Jim Nitterauer is currently a Senior Systems Administrator at AppRiver, LLC. His team is responsible for global network deployments and manages the SecureSurf global DNS infrastructure and SecureTide global SPAM & Virus filtering infrastructure as well as all internal applications and manages network security for the entire company.

 

He was President and CEO of GridSouth Networks, LLC, a joint venture between Creative Data Concepts Limited Inc. and AppRiver, LLC. Jim is also the founder and President of Creative Data Concepts Limited, Inc., a well-known Web services provider that has been located in Pensacola, Florida since 1998.

 

Jim served as President of the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce in 2003 and 2004 and has served as an active member of its Board of Directors.  He has chaired the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee and hosted its monthly television show.  Jim has also served as president of Santa Rosa County Crimestoppers, Inc. from 2002 through 2009.

 

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology from Ursinus College and a Master of Science degree with a major in microbiology and biochemistry from the University of Alabama. He is a 2000 graduate of Leadership Santa Rosa and a 2001 graduate of Leadership Pensacola.

Dr. Donovan C. Chau / Innovation Coast
Director, Strategy and Engagement
Center for Research and Economic Opportunity

 

 

 

Dr. Donovan C. Chau is director of strategy and engagement at the
University of West Florida’s Center for Research and Economic
Opportunity. He also serves as executive director of Innovation Coast,
an alliance of technology and knowledge-based companies and
organizations in Northwest Florida.

Dr. Chau was appointed Associate Director of the UWF Office of
Economic Development and Engagement in 2014. His career began a decade
earlier in Washington, DC, where he was a professional staff member
for the Select Committee on Homeland in the U.S. House of
Representatives. During this time, he helped the Committee gain
permanency and worked on border and transportation issues.

Upon leaving Congress, Dr. Chau was a subject matter expert for AMTI,
a defense and homeland security contractor which was subsequently
purchased by SAIC. Dr. Chau was the Africa desk officer, focusing on
terrorist threats in and emanating from the continent of Africa. He
provided research, analysis, and policy support to defense and
homeland security contracts at the federal, state, and local levels.

In 2007, Dr. Chau entered academia as an assistant professor of
political science, later promoted to associate, at California State
University, San Bernardino. His teaching and research specialized on
international politics in East Asia and Africa as well as national and
international security. Dr. Chau has published multiple books, journal
articles, monographs, book chapters, and book reviews.

Between 1996 and 2005, Dr. Chau earned a B.A. in literature/government
from Claremont McKenna College, an M.S. in defense and strategic
studies from Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. in politics and
international relations from the University of Reading, United
Kingdom.

Dr. Dave Dawson / University of West Florida Innovation Institute
Research Scholar

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Dave Dawson serves as a Research Scientist for UWF’s Innovation Institute and continues to serve as Program Coordinator and Advisor in the Department of Instructionl, Workforce and Applied Technologies. He is currently engaged in developing competency-based education models for Information Technology disciplines.  He is a co-inventor of a reusable learning object-based instructional design system that is patent-pending and has been licensed for commercialization, and is also co-inventor for another patent-pending location based services technology application under commercial license called Next Exit History.

He is actively engaged in research and development activities including fully immersive learning environment-based curriculum models through examples like the National Flight Academy aboard NAS Pensacola and scaling that model for dissemination throughout the country. Another area of focus is the delivery of learning programs through mobile technologies and was a principal developer for a very early implementation of this model through a DoD project. He also consults with organizations on issues related to technology and learning and has published articles and book chapters in these areas.

Camp Fire was founded in 1910 as Camp Fire Girls, this cherished Movement became Camp Fire USA in 1975 when they began to serve both boys and girls.  Today, the contemporary, coeducational Camp Fire is one of the nations’ leading not-for-profit youth development organizations, serving nearly three quarters of a million participants annually in the United States.   By design, Camp Fire programs are not only fun; they build specific skills and characteristics like self-direction, confidence, school preparedness and social responsibility. Laurie Murphy is the Executive Director and Coastkeeper of Emerald Coastkeeper, one of over 240 Waterkeeper Alliance members; a grassroots nonprofit organization that helps to enforce the Clean Water Act. Laurie has a B.S. degree in Oceanography and a Masters Certification in Geographical Information Science from the University of West Florida. Her background includes research and development in the effects of global climate change, including an in-depth study of the demise of mangrove forests in Senegal, Africa.

Kolleen Edwards Chesley is the Executive Director for Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast which is a networking group for women who meet twice a month with the purpose of growing themselves personally and professionally. Kolleen enjoys her various speaking engagements where she educates attendees on topics such as networking, referrals, and business building. Founded after Hurricane Ivan, Women’s Business Lunch (WBL) was organized by Kathleen Shoop, Natasha Parvey, and Kolleen Edwards Chesley to provide a venue for women in business to come and share ideas, information, networking contacts, etc to help each other be more successful in business.

In the Fall of 2013, the WBL reorganized and took on the name “Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast” and are a recognized not-for-profit organization.

Meeting information — Like clockwork, we meet for PWGC-Pensacola always on the 1st Friday of every month, always from 11:30-1:00pm, always at theGulf Coast Kid’s House on 12th Avenue. We also have PWGC-Gulf Breeze, always on the 3rd Friday of every month, always from 11:30-1:00pm, always at the Hampton Inn and Suites, Gulf Breeze. There is no charge to attend our meetings. Since 2003, Chain Reaction has provided local teens ages 13 to 18 in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties with safe, meaningful and educational service activities.

In a safe, fun and empowering environment, our teens discover their innate strengths and untapped abilities; unite as a team of connected, committed citizens; and believe in themselves to achieve more and aspire to see the good in all things.

Dana Cervantes-Richardson is the Operations and Programs Manager for USO Northwest Florida. She ensures USO services are provided to service members and their families on nine bases from Mobile, AL to Panama City. She also oversees the operations of all three USO centers which serve over 15,000 troops every month in Northwest Florida. Dana has been with the USO for almost three years. Before that, she was a radio personality in Pensacola and was embedded with troops in Iraq and Kuwait three times.  It was during her time reporting overseas that she experienced first-hand what the USO does for our Nation’s Heroes. It is her pleasure today to share with you just what the USO does and how you can help.

Dr. Brendan Kelly was named Interim Vice President for University Advancement at the University of West Florida in April 2013 and appointed the permanent position in July 2014. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Kelly served as the Director of the School of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts and Chair of the Department of Communication Arts at UWF.

In his role as Interim Vice President, Dr. Kelly serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet and provides executive leadership to a team of more than 60 professionals in the Division of Advancement, overseeing the university’s integrated marketing and communications efforts, as well as all of the development and alumni relations’ activities. In addition, he oversees the UWF Foundation, whose current endowment investment pool exceeds $60 million. Hattie Grace is the Owner/President of Academic Excellence Tutoring Services. She has over 10 years of experience in tutoring. She has over 25 years of experience in teaching and working with educational organizations.

Academic Excellence Tutoring Services provides service to the Escambia County PTA through presentations to parents at PTA meetings on how to work with their children on different educational subjects.

Over the years, I’ve gained a wide variety of experience as a senior IT manager, business owner, presenter, volunteer, and event organizer. Since 1995, I’ve helped launch numerous startups, company divisions, product lines, professional user groups, and technology events.

In 2010, I launched the Northwest Florida Software Architecture Summit (designed to bring developers & IT professionals together) and complimented it with the launch of Careers in Tech in 2011. The next Careers in Tech is currently planned to be held in Fall 2015.
