Back Office Betties's Profile Photo

Our CEO and Founding Bettie, Emily LaRusch has felt the entrepreneurial bug since she was a child. She got her start in elementary school when she directed the neighborhood kids in a talent show and charged parents admission to watch their kids perform. As an adult she worked for fortune 500 companies and loved sharing ideas and executing process improvements and product development as an intrapreneur.

While working on a IT project in the finance sector she spent most of her days on project calls but needed to arrange services of a carpet cleaner and landscaper for her home. On a rare break, she called multiple companies and no one answered. She called company after company until she was able to book services. One company called her back later and they said “Hey, I have a missed call from you. Do you want carpet cleaning?” Initially she was annoyed by the impersonal and unprofessional experience but after a few days a light bulb went off. This was the perfect opportunity to marry her passion for service, love of small businesses and knack for IT to become the voice of small businesses across the US and Canada! In October 2013, she put the idea onto paper as she formed a business plan and the rest is history.

I hold many hats as most women do! By day, an Account Manager for an International Technology Company, by night a dance teacher and also a wife and mother to two amazing boys. I am a dancer and an artist.  As I was introduced to Mom’s Making Six Figures, I found a way to supplement an additional income so that I could start paying off our debt. When you don’t have any debt, you have options. Options lead to freeing up my time, while still having an income that won’t change our lifestyle. Hopefully it will improve it! I am ready to start slowing down and really enjoying my life and my family. The day to day struggles of juggling a high stress career and trying to balance that with family have left me gasping for air at times. Moms Making Six Figures has really opened my eyes to a calm that I didn’t know could exist! www.momsmakingsixfigures.com

Pensacola Business Radio-05.13.16-Top CEO Series Ep -Sponsored By American Heritage Financial

Host- Sandra McGuire / AHF

Since our inception, AHF has been totally focused on building a strategic, quality insurance and financial planning firm.

American Heritage Financial was founded and based around two ideas. First, create a company that would be a career opportunity for Financial Professionals by having quality insurance companies and products available for their clients. Secondly, we work for our clients not the insurance companies. We base our decisions for products off of the conversations we have with each individual client we represent. We believe there is not a “one size fits all” with insurance products. You have to look at each client’s situation as a whole and base your financial strategy consistent with the client’s way of thinking, not your own.

AHF focuses on creating a financial strategy to get you to your retirement or through it without the worry of unexpected bills, running out of retirement income, or becoming a burden to your heirs. Our Financial Professionals are thoroughly trained in all aspects associated with retirement preparation. We have several Certified Financial Planners available to help create a retirement strategy specific to you and your goals. We look forward to working with you soon.

Insurance Representative of American United Life Insurance Company (AUL) and other insurance companies. American Heritage Financial is not an affiliate of AUL.

Catherine Hedden and David Gumple / Films About Me

The Science of Starting With Why

Neuroscience has proven that people don’t choose to work with you, or buy what you’re selling because of features or functions or your credentials or experience.  They choose to work with you because they feel a connection to you.  And, that connection grows from having a shared “why.”

Whether you’re a solopreneur or the CMO of a Fortune 100 company, we can help you create deeper connections with your viewers by telling the story of your why, as it plays out in the narrative of your customer’s life.

Marketing has changed.  It’s no longer “mass.”

You don’t want to reach everyone with your message,

you want to connect with the right people, with the right message.

David has the rare ability to switch between taking an analytical view and emotionally connecting.  David communicates selectively and purposefully with a minimalist approach, making him an extraordinary film maker and gifted editor.  He is discerning, perceptive and considerate.  And, he loves to have fun.

Catherine is a captivative communicator who uses her high expectations and intuitive understanding of what others need to build vivid images of the positive impact you can have on your clients.  She is approachable, transparent and inspired by connecting people to each other.

Pensacola Business Radio-4.27.16 Guests: Carrie Fonder / University of West Florida, Department of Art-BEFORE I DIE WALL

20160427_100425

Carrie Fonder / University of West Florida, Department of Art

Carrie Fonder currently teaches art and art appreciation at the University of West Florida.  Before coming to UWF in 2015, she taught at several institutions in the greater Detroit Metro Area, including the College for Creative Studies, and was the director of the Summer Art Studio at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

The Before I Die Wall is a participatory public art project created by New Orleans artist Candy Chang: http://candychang.com/work/before-i-die-in-nola/

Before I Die

BEFORE I DIE IS A PARTICIPATORY PUBLIC ART PROJECT that invites people to contemplate death, reflect on life, and share their personal aspirations in public. After losing someone she loved, Chang channeled her grief and depression into this project on an abandoned house in her New Orleans neighborhood to restore perspective and find consolation with her neighbors. She covered the crumbling house with chalkboard paint and stenciled it with the prompt, “Before I die I want to _____.” The wall quickly filled up with responses, from the poetic to the profound: Before I die I want to… see my daughter graduate, abandon all insecurities, get my wife back, eat all the candy and sushi in the world, be a Youtube sensation, straddle the International Date Line, tell my mother I love her, be completely myself.

The wall gained global attention and many people have contacted Chang about creating a wall in their own community. Chang created a project sitewith step-by-step resources and thanks to passionate people around the world, over 1,000 Before I Die walls have now been created in over 70 countries, including Iraq, China, Brazil, Kazakhstan, and South Africa.  Revealing the community’s longings, anxieties, joys, and struggles, the project explores how public space can cultivate self-examination and empathy among neighbors and compassionately prepare us for death and grief. It has also inspired dozens of remixes that offer new ways to engage with the people around us. The Before I Die book is a celebration of these walls and the stories behind them. See much more on the project site and follow the latest Before I Die walls and responses on Twitter,Instagram, and Facebook.

2011, New Orleans, LA. Chalkboard paint, spray paint, chalk, abandoned house. 41′ x 8′. With permission from the property owner, residents of the block, the neighborhood association’s blight committee, the Historic District Landmarks Commission, the Arts Council of New Orleans, and the City Planning Commission.
