Pensacola Little Theatre “Acting Up” Education Program Description:
Pensacola Little Theatre’s Education Department provides training and guidance to help performers, designers, directors and technicians of all ages create magic on the stage. We offer classes for students from pre-k to adult. Coupled with our ambitious production schedule of more than 15 shows a year, we give artists ample opportunity to develop, practice and hone the skills needed to present a professional and polished theatrical production.
The primary purpose of the Education Program is to provide both young people and adults with opportunities to explore and develop their interests and lay a solid foundation in all aspects of theatre arts. Through classes, plays and workshops, students learn in a hands-on environment. Classes and workshops promote self confidence, communication, creativity and service, as well as giving students the necessary skills to grow as artists, actors, technicians and people. Our mission is for each person in our program to find his or her voice and sense of play in a non-competitive atmosphere.

Rally your coworkers, friends and family, and join us for Pensacola’s 3rd Annual spectacle on water – dragon boating! Led by the rhythmic beat of a drum, teams of 20 synchronized paddlers, one drummer and one steersperson race 300 meters up the river in 40-foot canoes rigged with decorative Chinese dragon heads and tails. The sport brings social groups and businesses alike down to the water to bond and compete, building a stronger sense of “team” with every stroke. From vets to newbies, anyone can have a good time – we’ve made sure there’s plenty of time to kick back (or thrown down!) between races.
On September 10th, 2016, teams supported by thousands of spectators will compete in Bayou Texar just off Bayview Park in Downtown Pensacola for the third annual Pensacola Dragonboat Race and Festival.
The Festival will begin at 8 AM, with the races beginning at 9 AM. Each race will be about 12 minutes apart with a break for lunch. Closing ceremonies will begin at about 5 PM. During the day, DJs will play music to keep everyone up to date on race stats. Also, a children’s festival and vendor fair will be going on throughout the entire day!
