Host: Laurie Murphy

Executive Director/Coastkeeper

Emerald Coastkeeper

As a member of Waterkeepers Alliance, we strive to maintain drinkable, fishable, swimmable waters for our community.

You can start tuning in to “PURE H2O” every Wednesday at 9AM CST on Pensacola Business RadioX. Every Wednesday there will be a local discussion on important environmental points of interest. From clean energy to healthy water to environmental justice, education and much more.

For our first podcast, Laurie Murphy, Executive Director of Emerald Coastkeeper will be interviewing local educators and a non-profit organization “Harnessing Opportunity and Power of Education (HOPE) about the importance of supplemental STEM education and art/cultural education in underserved communities.

For more information on how you can be a guest, contact Laurie Murphy at laurie@emeraldcoastkeeper.org.

Founded in 1999, Emerald Coastkeeper is one of 240 (and counting) member organizations of the Waterkeeper Alliance. We are a grassroots organization that monitors four main watersheds in the Florida Panhandle. Our mission is to investigate, educate and protect our right to swimmable. fishable and drinkable water. We believe that healthy waterways are directly connected to healthy communities and healthy people.

In our four watersheds, you will find many springs, creeks, rivers, bayou’s, bays and of course, the Gulf of Mexico.

Pollution can happen anywhere, not just from large industries. Some of the greatest concerns in our region stem from residential pollution.

Some of the more common culprits are septic system failure, erosion and sedimentation, nutrient loading from fertilizers, red tide, heavy metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, (PCBs) lead, mercury, animal wastes, industrial paint source discharge, oil spills, commercial vessel pollution, residential development, and household garbage.

Protecting our waterways and drinking water from contaminants is everyone’s responsibility. We can’t do it alone…we need your help!

Feel free to contact us if you want to volunteer or to report a problem. We look forward to creating a healthy community with you!

Resources – Informative and Trusted

Finding solid resources on line isn’t as easy as it might seem.

There is a LOT of garbage and mis-information floating around on the internet.  A lot. I spend a ton of time reading and researching articles and sources before I ever hit the share button.

If you follow me regularly, you’ll start to see some of my favorite peeps popping up again and again. Does this mean that I agree with everything they post?  No.  What it means, is that I’m pretty close to being on board with most of their content because clearly they are doing their research and hitting the mark with great frequency.

Here is what you need to know before you read anything further.  Generally speaking, I’m a gal who is more interested in RESULTS than I am credentials.  Hard science is not always necessary for me.  I’ve gotten cynical about “research” and “studies” because when I dig, I frequently end up discover that the are financed by the people who most benefit from their results.  Just about every notable agriculture school in the US is funded in some way, shape or form by the agribusinesses who poison us most.  None wants to bite the hand the feeds them.  It’s reality, plain and simple.

Sandra McGuire / AHF and Host of TOP CEO

We are your local insurance and financial planning firm assisting in creating financial & protection plans catered to meet your specific needs.

Our core sectors of focus are financial security, medicare, executive benefits, business succession strategies, retirement, leaving a legacy, estate preservation, social security options, lifetime income, and spousal survivor income.

Since our inception, AHF has been totally focused on building a strategic, quality insurance and financial planning firm.

American Heritage Financial was founded and based around two ideas. First, create a company that would be a career opportunity for Financial Professionals by having quality insurance companies and products available for their clients. Secondly, we work for our clients not the insurance companies. We base our decisions for products off of the conversations we have with each individual client we represent. We believe there is not a “one size fits all” with insurance products. You have to look at each client’s situation as a whole and base your financial strategy consistent with the client’s way of thinking, not your own.

AHF focuses on creating a financial strategy to get you to your retirement or through it without the worry of unexpected bills, running out of retirement income, or becoming a burden to your heirs. Our Financial Professionals are thoroughly trained in all aspects associated with retirement preparation. We have several Certified Financial Planners available to help create a retirement strategy specific to you and your goals. We look forward to working with you soon.

Little did I know what was in store and the impact it would have on my future. My water broke unexpectedly at 21 weeks, and I was admitted to the hospital in pre-term labor. I was on bedrest for 20 days before my daughter was delivered by emergency C-section at 23 weeks and 4 days gestation. She weighed 1lb., 2.7oz at birth and was rushed to the NICU, where she stayed for 120 days before coming home. Our Story

The late summer months in Alaska are breathtaking, with up to 22 hours of daylight illuminating the landscape as animals prepare for the harsh winter ahead. This time of year also brings something else unique—the harvest of the remarkable Wild Alaskan Blueberry. Most fruits and vegetable plants would quickly wither and die in Alaska’s long, frigid winters. But the Wild Alaskan Blueberry isn’t just any ordinary fruit. It has evolved to protect itself from the brutality of the elements with a rich-colored pigment in its skin called anthocyanin. This phytochemical is the source of the Wild Alaskan Blueberry’s antioxidant prowess, boasting over 5 times the potency of the common blueberry.

Not only is the Wild Alaskan Blueberry the central ingredient in Kyäni Sunrise, but it is also emblematic of Kyäni’s culture and tenacity. Kyäni’s founding families began with small businesses that, like the blueberry, might have been easy to overlook. But with hard work and innovation, the Hansens and Taylors achieved enormous business success in a multitude of industries. After learning how the Wild Alaskan Blueberry and other Superfoods can positively impact health, the families joined together to form Kyäni. Today, Kyäni’s powerful Triangle of Health provides nutritional wellness to millions of people, improving lives throughout the world.
