Pensacola Business Radio: Spotlight Episode-Holley Strobel / Clarkson Eyecare

Holly Strobel, CPOT
Clarkson Eyecare

Clarkson Eyecare is proud to be a medically based optometric group based in St. Louis, Missouri. Our team of highly trained optometrists, opticians, and technicians focus on maintaining the health and development of your eyes by providing the most comprehensive eye exam on the market. The Clarkson Eyecare brand was founded in 1979 by Lawrence J. Jehling, O.D. and Lynette S. Lui, O.D. as the Jehling-Lui Eye Associates on Clarkson Road in Ellisville, Missouri.

A few years later, Dr. Jehling opened a second office in Pacific, Missouri, called Pacific Eyecare. A full-service lens-grinding laboratory was then added to the Pacific location.

In 1995, Dr. Jehling and Dr. James Wachter merged four St. Louis locations to take on one brand: Clarkson Eyecare. The merger ignited the rapid growth of the company. Clarkson has recently expanded its services to cover not only Missouri and Southern Illinois, but the Florida Panhandle, too, following a partnership with Sight & Sun Eyeworks and their partner practices in Pensacola, FL.

Clarkson Eyecare also has its own proprietary practice management software, Eyecare 360. Developed from the input of our own doctors, this software enables optometrists, ophthalmologists and their staffs to create a better patient experience throughElectronic Medical Records (EMR). With this new technology, appointments, insurance verification, billing, inventory and eye exams are all done electronically.

Clarkson looks forward to continued growth in the future, and to the opportunity to serve more patients with our expert optometric care. We welcome you to visit your neighborhood office today.

Sight and Sun Eyeworks, Navarre Family Eye Care and Berryhill Eye Care have all combined under the name Clarkson Eyecare, effective July 1, 2016. The existing doctors and staff are pleased to continue providing  the same great eye care, as our offices have done for the past 19 years.

All of our office include state-of-the-art exam lanes and modern dispensing stations to serve patients. The doctors providing care are Doctors Jill Anderson, Star Rostankovski, pediatric optometrist Mark Obenchain, Neil Hook, Dustin Grubbs, John Cummings, Lauren Cummings, Shea Cristensen, April Gerhard, EffieMarie McGowan, Carl Spear and Katie Gilbert Spear. We offer a complete line of primary and secondary professional eye care services including full medical and vision adult and pediatric eye examinations, binocular vision exams, contact lens fittings, emergency eye care and treatment of eye diseases. Clarkson Eyecare also offers a large selection of retail eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and accessory products.

We have five premium Clarkson Eyecare locations throughout the Pensacola area. The offices are located in Pensacola on Davis Highway, Perdido Key on Sorrento Road, Gulf Breeze in the Publix Shopping Center (all formerly Sight and Sun Eyeworks), Navarre on Navarre Parkway (formerly Navarre Family Eye Care) and Milton (formerly Berryhill Eye Care) at the corner of Berryhill Rd and Glover Ln.

Clarkson felt the growing patient demand in the Pensacola market and is excited to now provide it’s quality eye care in Florida.

Founded in 1979 by Dr. Lawrence Jehling, Clarkson Eyecare currently offers comprehensive medical eye care and optical services at all five 5 Pensacola locations. Go to www.ClarksonEyecare.com for more information.

As a member of Waterkeepers Alliance, we strive to maintain drinkable, fishable, swimmable waters for our community.

You can start tuning in to “PURE H2O” every Wednesday at 9AM CST on Pensacola Business RadioX. Every Wednesday there will be a local discussion on important environmental points of interest. From clean energy to healthy water to environmental justice, education and much more.

For our first podcast, Laurie Murphy, Executive Director of Emerald Coastkeeper will be interviewing local educators and a non-profit organization “Harnessing Opportunity and Power of Education (HOPE) about the importance of supplemental STEM education and art/cultural education in underserved communities.

For more information on how you can be a guest, contact Laurie Murphy at laurie@emeraldcoastkeeper.org.

Founded in 1999, Emerald Coastkeeper is one of 240 (and counting) member organizations of the Waterkeeper Alliance. We are a grassroots organization that monitors four main watersheds in the Florida Panhandle. Our mission is to investigate, educate and protect our right to swimmable. fishable and drinkable water. We believe that healthy waterways are directly connected to healthy communities and healthy people.

In our four watersheds, you will find many springs, creeks, rivers, bayou’s, bays and of course, the Gulf of Mexico.

Pollution can happen anywhere, not just from large industries. Some of the greatest concerns in our region stem from residential pollution.

Some of the more common culprits are septic system failure, erosion and sedimentation, nutrient loading from fertilizers, red tide, heavy metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, (PCBs) lead, mercury, animal wastes, industrial paint source discharge, oil spills, commercial vessel pollution, residential development, and household garbage.

Protecting our waterways and drinking water from contaminants is everyone’s responsibility. We can’t do it alone…we need your help!

Feel free to contact us if you want to volunteer or to report a problem. We look forward to creating a healthy community with you!

Pensacola Little Theatre “Acting Up” Education Program Description:

Pensacola Little Theatre’s Education Department provides training and guidance to help performers, designers, directors and technicians of all ages create magic on the stage. We offer classes for students from pre-k to adult. Coupled with our ambitious production schedule of more than 15 shows a year, we give artists ample opportunity to develop, practice and hone the skills needed to present a professional and polished theatrical production.

The primary purpose of the Education Program is to provide both young people and adults with opportunities to explore and develop their interests and lay a solid foundation in all aspects of theatre arts. Through classes, plays and workshops, students learn in a hands-on environment. Classes and workshops promote self confidence, communication, creativity and service, as well as giving students the necessary skills to grow as artists, actors, technicians and people. Our mission is for each person in our program to find his or her voice and sense of play in a non-competitive atmosphere.

Jennifer began acting 15 years ago and has not stopped pursuing a career in the arts since. Her extensive acting experience has made her a sought after talent in the panhandle.

She has over 15 years of experience in theatre which is not limited to onstage performances. Jennifer began teaching acting workshops at age 17 and directed her first play by age 20. She has also received numerous awards for her performances in the theatre community, in including a superior ranking from the FCAA for her portrayal of “Honey” in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf. She recently added ” playwright” to her resume’ when she wrote a comedic one act play which already been performed in local theaters as well as out of state venues.

Her film background began with small local TV and radio commercials which have developed into featured roles in several short films. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Film Production from the University of West Florida.
